1st Sem is over!!

Hoho~!!I survived the 1st sem in Uni!
I remember i was telling my frens that nah i m not going to take biotech cos i dun want to b doing lotsa lab works.. Tadah! I m still doing many lab reports when i m pharmacist student! Now i wanna share something interesting i learn in sem 1.

The most interesting module is Practical Dispensing, where I got to manufacture drugs in different dosage form. The most challenging product is SUPPOSITORIES! The temperature must be just right when you pour it into the mould, if not you will be giving your patient something that doesn't "appealing" to their buttock! I mean it! The suppository is supposed to look like a bullet, but some of my peers' products.. haha.. maybe the patient would rather be sick~~

A suppository

For my dear friends who may be using suppositories one day, these are my advise:
1. Remember to remove the wrapper- dont laugh, there are instances where the patients insert the suppository into their buttock with the plastic wrapper~ or worst, foil!
2. Not all drugs that look like capsules are meant of oral consumption- if you are not sure whether u r supposed to stuck it into ur mouth or buttock, ask! There were patients that swallow the oily suppository and tell the doctor "yucks the taste of the capsule is disgusting!"
3. Don't act clever, when the pharmacist or doctor give you something and tell you that it s for your buttock.. Instead of a suppository, sometimes it s a pump with liquid inside, all u need to do is to pump liquid into ur anus, and TAKE OUT THE PLASTIC PUMP! A pharmacist told me that his patient actually stuck the whole pump into his anus, n claimed that his constipation doesnt improve! Come on, when u put a cork to a bottle, how do u expect wine to come out? Moreover ur faeces is not so "pourable"!!
